Text
dead girl sprawled
gracelessly
across the garden
path
her blonde hair a
soft curtain
eyes closed
as if in heavy
sleep
little girl fed
too much
laudanum
no crying not
anymore
mother screams
when she see's
her
dead girl
the flies buzz
about
lighting and
then buzzing
back into the
sky
going in
and out of
her mouth
rubbing their
insect front
legs together
her belly
full of slippery
pills
red ones and
blue ones
dissolved
her mouth smells
of them
sickly sour
vomit
thin
no food passed
her lips
without guilt
or without the
afterthought
of where she
was going to
puke them up
her eyes sinking
back into
her head
mouth slack and
open
spilling medicinal
dead breath
hands clasped
together
a little girl
waiting for her
present
the pill bottles
are back in her
room
fallen across
the floor in
a spray
she wanted to
die in the
garden
the place where
she used to
sit for hours
talking to the
flowers and
the cat
green eyes
flaring purring
underneath her
touch
where she used to
spill her blood
in the moonlight
offering her arms
in sacrifice
to the white moon
pale face upturned
and black
her exams are
over passed everything
except math
her school papers
are glutted
with blood
journals full
of red spattering
her testament to
the world
her last will
dead girl
what a waste
small and shriveled
in death
her cheeks hollow
and her skin
a gray that
suits those
cadavers you
see in the movies
when the police
come they will
cluck their tongues
and say, 'what a waste'
she wanted to look
beautiful when she
died
took a shower
combed out her
long blonde hair
and carefully applied
eyeliner and
lipstick
the rim of the
cup she used to
drink her pills
is covered with
an imprint of
red lips
sister finds
her wanting to
visit to
laugh at the
world one last
time
how she screams!
doesn't she
know that this
is the end of the play
and the curtain will
close
one last time
