Text

shattered china
doll with
dusty clothes
legs scratching at
the floor
silvery breath
struggling against
the blows

red stain in
her eyes
teeth clattering
together
cracking underneath
the blows
crooked nubs
in her gums

'i want to
talk to you
right up close'
stinking black
breath little
red pig eyes
thin lips in
a scarred face
squeal like a stuck
pig
dog kicked in
the ribs hearing
them crack

hair sticky with
blood
she can't breath
through her
shattered nose
china doll thrown
by a careless child
into the wall

hearing him hulk
over her body
smell of his body
fear sharp in
her mouth
fragments of
teeth bloody
saliva swallowed
convulsively
red spittle going
down her chin

backing up towards
the wall
a high keening
sound in the
back of her throat
spindly legs pale
in the moonlight
dark figure
swallowing up
the room
presence that cracks
the night in half

white night dress
spattered with
blood
shuddered when
he wanted to fuck
the feel of skin
breaking underneath
his rough hand
lips red and swollen
eyes (already ringed
with black) puffy

snuffling through
her shattered
nose
terrified eyes
hair tumbling
over her shoulders

he moves
away gets into
bed snores fill
the air

lying there
mind numb with
hatred
breath shatters in
and out
coughing up
blood
'shut up' from
the bed

to the kitchen
bloody footprints
trailing behind
torn nightdress
shuddering cold and
hot at the same time
mouth smiling

back to bed
huddles up near his
warmth
prize in her hands
get up toss her
hair out of her
eyes
she plants the knife
in his back
with a serene
expression
twists until she hears
the scrape of bone
rears back
then in his neck
the blood spurting
on the white mattress
(she washed those
sheets that morning)
his arms go up
harsh breath
reaching for her
huddles near the
wall watch him twitch
and writhe

when he is still
she gets in bed and pulls
the covers over
her head
smiles until she falls
into red dreams
where the pain
twitches at her
ear
